MOTORCYCLING FOR A CAUSE: MOTORCYCLE EVENTS IN AUSTRALIA

Motorcycling can create a huge impact when it comes to social issues and fundraisings. Australia has been backed up with large groups of motorcycle riders and enthusiasts and when they come together for a cause or for an event it's the carnival for all the motorcycle riders.
Here I have mentioned some of the motorcycle events in Australia you should look for:

1.Ride Sunday

Ride Sunday is a worldwide motorcycle event which works to bring together all motorcycling communities in a free and all-encompassing charitable event. It’s the one day a year where all riders can jump on their bikes, and ride to change the world. It is an event for all motorcyclists to unite and create friendships to raise funds for causes that they care about. Ride Sunday is celebrated around the world on the same day, Sunday 2nd of July.

Ride Sunday in Australia:

Mark Wotherspoon raised a tremendous $20,444 for White Ribbon Australia, securing himself as the highest fundraiser globally. Mark was rewarded with a motorcycle of his choice for his efforts and selected Harley-Davidson. White Ribbon Australia showed their support and thanks to Mark for his efforts. They were presented with a cheque for the total amount they received from their registered riders in Ride Sunday 2018.

2. Black Dog Ride: Raising awareness of depression and suicide prevention

Black Dog Ride began in 2009 as a ride to raise awareness of depression, evolving into a national charity involving thousands of Australians who have raised millions for mental health programs and fostered mental health awareness around the nation.

The Cause:

Every 1 in 5 Australians experiences a mental health condition each year. Three million Australians are living with depression or anxiety. Eight Australians take their lives each day. That's nearly around 3,000 lives lost each year. 180 Australians attempt to take their lives each day. The tragic loss of our loved ones to suicide drives Black Dog Ride to build a community culture of awareness, inclusion, and acceptance. Breaking down the barrier of silence encourages our friends, family, and colleagues to seek help because mental illnesses are just that, illnesses. They can be managed and people living with them can lead to meaningful, fulfilling lives. Fostering awareness is the catalyst for encouraging help-seeking behaviour and preventing suicide.

Background of the event:

Since 2010, Black Dog Ride's 1 Dayer has brought together Black Dog Riders for an enjoyable and meaningful day of riding, uniting like-minded people for a vital mission - raising awareness of depression and suicide prevention. Black Dog Riders uniting together under one banner with one voice aims to amplify a national message of mental health awareness to prevent this tragic loss of life to suicide.

3.Ride To Freedom

The Ride to Freedom creates awareness and raises funds for the Australian Childhood Foundation, and the work they do in our great country. Children are being abused and neglected every day. With one new report of abuse, neglect or family violence every two minutes. We know that no town, city or community is free from this tragedy. The Australian Childhood has created a movement to break this cycle, and we can help them achieve it! The ride is hosted by Saturday Night Riders on the last Sunday of November as an annual event.

4.Around Australia Ride

Around Australia Ride 2018 saw a group of 18 everyday Australians embark on the journey of a lifetime, travelling 15,000kms around Australia in 33 days.
“We set out with the aim of raising $100,000 to go towards research into a cure for childhood cancer, clinical trials, and better treatments and we’ve had the most incredible adventure along the way,” said Susan Walter, Co-founder, Chief Executive Officer of SWCCF. “Together we continue to work hard towards our vision of one hundred per cent survival for all children with cancer and the prevention of their suffering,” she said.

We are thrilled to be able to announce that we have smashed that goal, raising in excess of $110,000. We are very grateful to the many people who so generously contributed to this achievement including our ride sponsor and platinum partner, Hyundai Help for Kids, our riders, support crew and all of their wonderful supporters.

Conclusion:

As fundraising and charities are always focused on delivering maximal good for beneficiaries, motorcycling on its behalf try to do something for the society. hence it can be deduced that riding not only gives you fun but sometimes social work can give you happiness and peaceful sleep.
